Glen Avon was established as a subdivision of West Riverside by the Riverside Development Company in 1909. The name Glen Avon was chosen by a lottery from suggestions put into a hat by residents. Glen Avon was a census-designated place until July 1, 2011, when it became part of the newly incorporated city of Jurupa Valley along with Mira Loma, Pedley, Rubidoux, and Sunnyslope.
